Richland Green Business of the Year Winner, Oasis School, really walks the talk when it comes to being "green". Staff and students focus on recycling, reuse and reduction of waste. Even the families of the students get involved!

Their motto: “Keep Oasis Green” focus on the following: Reduce: Use only unscented, non-toxic cleaning products; filter air and water; restrict use of scented products; use no pesticides or weed killers on the playground; use corn-mulch to naturally fertilize the grass. Reuse: Use previously owned furniture from government excess yard; reuse of materials, books, supplies, paper, etc. Recycle: Provide a written policy for parents on waste reduction and recycling; recycle in the school; purchase equipment such as office chairs out of recycled plastic. Other: Allow for out-gassing of new products like furniture, prior to introduction into the classroom; use solar light tubes to bring the natural light in.
